Medina Co. Gazette - May 21, 1885: The funeral of Aunt Jane Daugherty, widow of Charles Daugherty, occurred last Tuesday, and was most impressive throughout the entire services, which were conducted by Rev. Braithwaite, assisted by Revs. Starr, Close and Norton. Rev. Matlock was unable to attend, being detained by the sickness of a daughter. The remarks and reminiscences of the pastors participating, one of whom had sustained that relation to the deceased over 40 years ago, were most appropriate and affecting. They all joined in the universal testimony of the community. She was the mother of 12 children, all of whom except two sons survive her, and were permitted to attend the last sad rites of a mother more than ordinarily beloved and honored. Six of her sons and two son-in-laws, had the mournful privilege of bearing the precious form to its last rest. An only brother, Richard Hendee, left the bedside of a suffering wife to attend. There is a general feeling of regret and sympathy.
