OBITUARY (From "The Chattanooga News-Free Press," Wednesday, July 8, 1992; page D4) SERVICES ON THURSDAY FOR CLYDE HENDEE JR. Services for Clyde Hendee Jr. will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Mike Nolan, Rev. Joe Pat Breen, and the Rev. Ed Steiner officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Jack Steiner, Jimmy Tubbs, Mike Mueller, Fred Matthews, Charlie Ireland, and Jude Weidner serving as pallbearers. Mr. Hendee, a resident of Chattanooga, died Tuesday at his home. He was a native of Grand Rapids, Mich., and had lived here most of his life. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Local Musicians Union, Ham Radio Club, Quarter Century Wireless Association, and local coordinator of Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service. He was a salesman for communication companies here for many years and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Steiner, and a son, John Edward Hendee. Survivors include his sons, Leon Hendee, Atlanta, Peter Hendee, Winston Salem, N.C., Joe Hendee, Knoxville, Andy Hendee, Chattanooga, and Jeff Hendee, Jupiter, Fla.; four daughters, Myra Ireland, Catherine Hendee, and Monica Blanton, all of Chattanooga, and Mary Ellis, LaFayette, Colo.; nine grandchildren. The family will receive friends today from noon to 2 p.m. and 5 to 9 p.m. at the Dodds Avenue Chapel of Turner Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Repair and Restoration Fund of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 214 E. 8th Street, Chattanooga, or to the Tuition Assistance Fund of Notre Dame High School, 2701 Vermont Avenue, Chattanooga, Tenn., 37404. |
