He settled first in Sheffield, MA, about 1746, where he married next year, and labored industriously at his farm as well as occasionally at the making of shoes. Here he remained until his family had increased to ten children, six sons and four daughters, when he removed to Vermont.

Married, 1747, Thankful (Hewit[t]) Seager, the young widow of Joseph, of Newington.

Children of Samuel and Thankful Churchill.
I. Martha, b. Jan. 14, 1748; m. Abdie[a]l Webster. They are reported to have had two sons and a daughter, but the names have not been received. Mrs. Webster died in Hubbardton, at advanced age, having been a widow for many years.
34 II. Joseph, b. Feb. 14[03], 1750[49]; m. Amy Sti[y]les, Dec. 7, 1773.
III. Lydia, b. June 1, 1751; m. Abner Ashely. They are said to have had a son and six daughters, whose names we have not ascertained. Lydia (Churchill) Ashley died in Bethany, N.Y., a widow, aged eighty-two years.
IV. Lois, b. May 30, 1753; m. David Baldwin. They are said to have had three sons and two daughters, whose names we have not obtained. Lois (Churchill) Baldwin died in New Marlborough, Mass., aged eighty-three years.
V. Thakful, b. March 7, 1755; d. unmarried at great age.

35 VI. Samuel, b. May 20, 1756; m. Anna Camp.
36 VII. John, b. March 12, 1758; m. Martha Baldwin.
37 VIII. Silas, b. June 18, 1760; m. Elizabeth Culver. No children.
38 IX. William, b. Feb. 10, 1763; m. Eunice Culver.
39 X. Ezekiel, b. June 24. 1765; m. Elizabeth Dyer."
