Richard S. Diehl Richard S. Diehl age 86 of Belding, formerly of Greenville passed away Thursday December 13, 2012 at home. He was born December 17, 1925 in Mason MI the son of Carl and Orleana (Vendee) Diehl. He graduated from Mason High School and Michigan State University and was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps. Dick was an educator having taught in Mason in his early years and completed 37 years as a teacher, coach, drivers training instructor and Athletic Director with Greenville Public Schools. He was a member of the National Education Association and Michigan Education Association and even served as the lifeguard at the Baldwin Lake Beach also helping with the concession stand. He was a respected math instructor and set a good example of hard work, perseverance and a never give up attitude to everyone whom he met.

He was married to Barbara Walker for over 40 years when she passed away in 1996. He married Donna Johnson of Belding on December 28, 1998 and together they shared their lives and her home in Belding these past years.

He is survived by his wife Donna and his children; Mark (Sue) Diehl, Deb Joki, Brian (Jenny) Diehl, Carol "Coke" (Carl) Sorensen, Donna's daughters; Joanne (John) Newland and Marilyn (John) Rittersdorf, 19 Grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

He was also preceded in death by his brother Roland Diehl in World War II and his sister Leah Pollok.

Funeral services will be held on his birthday Monday December 17, 2012 at 11 AM at Hurst Funeral Home with his good friend Alan Guilfoyle serving as the celebrant. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Greenville. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of Flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Education Foundation of Greenville, 1414 Chase Road, Greenville MI 48838.
