Barbara J. Hendee, age 83, died Friday, November 29, 2013 at Morning Star Village, Rockford, IL. She was born April 28, 1930, in Monroe Center, IL. the youngest daughter of John and Julia (Winterland) Welsh. She married Richard G. Hendee on December 25, 1948, at the Untied Church of Byron. Dick passed away in 2002. Barb was a lifelong resident of Byron and after retirement lived in Naples, Florida. Barb worked for many years as office manager at Rockford Molded Products in Rockford and later in life the owner/operator of H&R Block in Byron. Barb was an accomplished softball player in her youth and an avid golfer. She celebrated her 65 year Byron High School class reunion in 2013 with several classmates and lifelong friends. Barb was a member of the UnitedChurch of Byron. Those that will mourn her passing and cherish her memory are her children, Rick (Karla) Hendee, Freeport, IL., Debra (Dan) Hendrickson, Mesquite, NV., Scott (Kathleen) Hendee, Rockton, IL., Brett (Rhonda) Hendee, Tampa, FL.; grandchildren, Sara (Ryan) Corcoran, St. Charles, IL., Rachel Hendee, Chicago, IL., Lisa, Michael, and Laura Hendee, Tampa, FL., Benjamin Hendrickson, Charlotte, NC., and Kathryn Hendee, Milwaukee, WI.; great-grandchildren, Eden and James Corcoran, St. Charles, IL.; sister-in-law, Gloria Knorr, Elizabeth Welsh; brother-in-law, Forrest Parks; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barb was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick; brother, Russell Welsh; and sisters, Dorothy Donnelly, Lucille Reeverts, Helen Snyder, and Mary Parks. Barb's family would like to express special thanks to the caring staff at St. Anne's Center, Morning Star Village, and Northern Illinois Hospice in Rockford. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 506 W. Merchant St. in Byron, IL., Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 6, at the Untied Church of Bryon with the Rev. Michael Mulberry pastor of the church officiating. Private burial will be at the Byron Cemetery. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial fund has been established in Barbara's name. |
