HENDEE - Charles E. Hendee, 89, Byron, died at 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 29, 1971, after a short illness. Born Oct. 5, 1881, in Beloit, Wis., son of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Hendee,. Lived 40 years in the Byron area going there from Rockford. Married to the former Olive Gallagher in Rockford, Feb. 8, 1902. He was a retired farmer in the Byron area. Member of Equitable Reserve Association. Attended rural Beloit schools. Survivors include; a son, Charles J., Byron; a daughter, Mrs. Elinore Cleveland, Rockford; five grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Services at 1 p.m. Thursday in BAKENER-MORRISON FUNERAL HOME, Byron, with Rev. George Hartz, pastor of United Church of Christ, officiating. Burial in Byron Cemetery. No visitation.
