Joseph Owen, the son of John Owen and Rebecca Wade, was born October 23, 1660 at Windsor, Connecticut.[1][2][3][4][5][6] About 1682 he married Esther Osborn, the daughter of John Osborn and Anne Oldage, in Windham, CT. Esther Osborn was the sister of Mary Osborn who married Joseph's brother, Josiah. Joseph was granted 20 acres of land in Simsbury, Connecticut, on Samon Brook 7 May 1683. He received other grants in Simsbury. In 1687, he and 48 other men agreed to call and pay Edward Thompson to be the minister at Simsbury. These 49 men received a grant in 1688. His lot was #18, which he sold in 1708.[6] Joseph returned to Windsor and sold his land in Simsbury, in 1692, to Samuel Wilcoxen Jr. In 1701 and 1703 his name is on several Windsor conveyances.[6] 21 Nov 1703, the land records in Lebanon show Joseph Owen of Windsor received land in Lebanon from David Mason. He received more Lebanon land in 1707. In 1721, 40 acres on the west side of the highway was laid out to Joseph Owen Sr. as his common right in the village land. In 1735, then about 75 years old, "in consideration of good will and the expectation of comforts and support for himself and his wife Esther" conveyed to his eldest son Joseph Owen Jr. property in Lebanon. He also conveyed land to his son Joshua, Moses, Caleb and Aaron.[6] Joseph and Esther had 6 children: Ann, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Caleb, and Aaron.[7] Ann, b 9 Nov 1683 Simsbury, Hartford, Ct.
