Richard Hendee (or Hendy) b. abt 1585 Normandy, France “Mrs. Carl E. Mueller, N. Hackett avenue [Milwaukee, Wisconsin], traces her ancestry through the paternal line to a certain Richard Hendee, born in Normandy, France, toward the close of the Sixteenth century. He was of a family of French Protestants, that group called Huguenots who suffered so severely in the famous massacre of St. Bartholemew. Richard, apparently, was born some years after this bloody event, but during the age of religious oppression that followed. His family finally fled from France to England, whence in 1639 [?] [His son – I believe there is a legitimate question about whether the above Richard ever came to the United States from England or even ever went to England from France. The above Richard would have been about 54 years old (not young for that time) at the time of the Atlantic voyage while his son, Richard, Sr. would only have been 28 years old at that time.
