The Berkshire Eagle: Arthur L. Benham 1929-2011 Retired Pittsfield Fire Captain PITTSFIELD Mr. Arthur L. Benham 82, of 37 Preston Avenue, Pittsfield, died Friday, April 29, 2011 at Mt.Greylock Extended Care Facility surrounded in the loving presence of his family. He was born in Fort Edward, N.Y. on March 19, 1929, a son of the late Enos and Laura (Paquette) Benham. He moved to Pittsfield at the age, of 5 years old in 1934 and attended Pittsfield Schools and Berkshire Community College. Hejoined the Pittsfield Fire Department in 1952 and retired as Fire Captain in 1987. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, all sports and was a fan of the Boston Red Sox. He was a former member of Mt. Carmel Church and its Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Pittsfield Fire Fighters Association, American Legion Post 68 of Pittsfield, and Central Berkshire Holy Name Society, Charter 99 Stigmatine Scholarship Fund. Arthur was a veteran of War World II in the United States Army and served in the Pacific. He was the beloved Husband of Anna M. Pariselli Benham, married on April 29, 1950 and Devoted Father of Michael S. (Linda) Benham of Pittsfield, Debra A. (David) Belland of Dalton, Cherished Grandfather of Jeffrey, Courtney, Ashley Benham, Jason, Jaclyn, Matthew, Cody Belland, and Cherished Great Grandfather of Michaela, Caitlin, Jacob Collins, Lauren Benham. He was predeceased by six brothers and two sisters, Norbert was Killed in World War II, Harold, Paul, Richard, Roland, Roger Benham, Elizabeth Rennie, Katherine Zink. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral Services will take place Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at 9 a.m. from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME 5 Elm St. Pittsfield, Mass. 01201. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 191 ElmSt. Pittsfield Mass, with the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, Pastor of St. Ann's Church in Lenox, Mass, and a nephew of Mr. Benham Officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the family Plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
